These soft, supple cheeses appreciate the firm carbonation of wheat beer, and they match the beer in modest flavor intensity. Bernardus Witbier Widmer Brothers Hefeweizen.Ĭheese affinities: To match the understated personality of a wheat beer, look primarily to young, fresh cheeses with simple buttery or milky flavors. They may be cloudy or clear, but most examples will conform to the European model of pale color, modest alcohol, light hopping, and restrained bitterness.īeers to try: Allagash White Anchor Brewing Summer Beer Ayinger Ur-Weisse Blanche de Bruxelles Franziskaner Hefe-Weisse Hitachino Nest White Ale New Belgium Sunshine Wheat Ommegang Witte Pyramid Hefeweizen Schneider Wiesen Edel-Weisse St. They may or may not have Belgian-style spicing (check the label) or the banana and clove scent attributable to German yeasts. These pale amber beers have a more layered scent of banana, vanilla, and caramel and can have a slightly sour finish.Īmerican wheat beers march to their own drummer, of course. A few breweries make a dunkelweizen (“dark wheat” beer), using wheat plus darker malts. They have the cloudiness, prickly carbonation, and low bitterness of other wheat beers and no noticeable hops aroma. Their signature fragrance suggests banana, cloves, and yeast, reminiscent of a slice of warm banana bread. Unlike their Belgian counterparts, these beers aren’t spiced. In the German tradition, the term weissbier (“white beer”) or hefeweizen (“yeast wheat”) indicates a brew made from at least 50 percent malted wheat. German and German-style wheat beers have their own nomenclature. Beers with blanche (French for “white”) in the name are likely to be either witbiers from the French-speaking southern half of Belgium or Belgian-style witbiers from the New World. Witbiers have a creamy mouthfeel a fine, full effervescence and a dry finish. Some tasters discern a floury fragrance or the scent of cooked pasta, probably from the unmalted wheat used in the brew. The aroma from these seasonings is subdued but detectable, along with other fruity notes, a lemony tartness, and a faint honeyed scent. The classic Belgian witbier (Flemish for “white beer”) is brewed with spices and other fragrant additions, typically dried bitter-orange peel and coriander. Their appeal lies in their drinkability and freshness, welcome qualities at a warm-weather lunch or at the start of a meal.Īnd now for the differences. Brewers use a light hand with hops to keep from dominating the subtle malt, so most wheat beers aren’t hugely aromatic. Traditional recipes rely on pale malts-in some brews, the wheat isn’t malted at all-so wheat beers don’t offer much, if any, toast or toffee aroma. Many are unfiltered, with a hazy or even cloudy aspect. Most wheat beers have a pale straw to pale gold hue. High in protein, the wheat contributes a silky, viscous texture and an especially luxuriant head. ![]() More typically, wheat accounts for 30 to 50 percent of the grain base, with malted barley, and occasionally oats, making up the rest. ![]() American, Belgian, and German approaches have some aspects in common, but noticeable differences, too.ĭespite their name, wheat beers are rarely made entirely from wheat. ![]() Many brewers make wheat beer-some year-round-and styles vary greatly. ![]() These popular pale brews have an easy quaffability thanks to their relatively low alcohol, brisk effervescence, and modest bitterness. How to Convert Multi-Dimensional Array to XML File in PHPĪnd that was all about sorting files by last modified date in php.How to Auto Complete Textbox from DB using PHP and MySQL.If you want to sort the files from different folders then change the $dirpath variable accordingly. To sort all the files in a folder, just use the file pattern like this, In this case the comparison is based upon the last-modified date. The function usort() will sort the given array by value based upon the user defined comparison function. The method glob() will return an array of file names with full path matching the given pattern.Īnd filemtime() will get the last modified date and time of a file in unix timestamp. The above php script sorts out '*.jpg' files from current working directory. Say I want to sort all the 'JPEG' image files from a directory according to their recently modified date and time. Let me show you by an example how to perform this file sorting. Consider using the array_key_exists() function when you want to check if the array uses a given key.How to Sort Files by Last Modified Date in PHP You can also use in_array() if you just want to know whether an array contains a specific element and are not interested in its position. You can check if an array contains a specific value and get its first corresponding key using the array_search() function. You should know that the array_values() function returns an indexed array of values, array_keys() returns an array of keys of a given array, and array_flip() exchanges keys with values: print_r(array_keys($array)) // One of them is array_combine(), which creates an array using one array for keys and another for its values: $keys = Let's start with the basic functions that work with array keys and values. All automatically assigned keys will be greater than or equal to 0. For example, if one 'weight' would be more than or equal to 100, then the ksort function would fail to give the right results. Here's the code: Please note that the code below will not work correctly in some cases. When left out, PHP sets the key to one more than the largest specified integer key. Then I sort the temporary array by key using the built in ksort () function and use array values to re-index the array numerically. You also don't need to specify a key for every array value. The shorthand notation has been available starting from PHP 5.4. $third = Īs you can see, using either array() or is equivalent when creating arrays. ![]() Here are a few examples of creating arrays in PHP: $first = array(10, "Apple", 20, -18, "Monkey") Second, if a key is created as floats, bools, and valid string representations of integers, then it will be cast to integers. If you try to use the same key multiple times in an array, PHP will ignore all other key-value pairs except the last one. There are two important points that you should remember when creating associate arrays with key pairs.įirst, the key always has to be unique. The other method is to put all elements inside. One is to use array() to specify the elements as key-value pairs. ![]() There are two different ways of creating arrays. Every PHP developer must know how to use them and how to combine array functions to make code readable and short.Īlso, there is a presentation with given code examples, so you can download it from the related links and show it to your colleagues to build a stronger team. In this tutorial, I am going to make a list of common PHP array functions, with examples of usage and best practices. Disagree? Lets test the theory - suppose Windows came in bright frikkin Yellow with no ability to change the raging Yellow abyss or even to change the background to your fave NASA, luxury sports car, or family picture. Software isn't much different in my opinion. The little things in life are often the most helpful. Any change that helps the user tweak the GUI to their liking shouldn't be a polling matter. Simple changes or even if you still want to argue that they are not "simple" - make big impacts. Considering AutoCAD has this ability and is clearly not Autrodesk's cash cow the real mystery here is why it hasn't been implemented into Revit already. Pick color, great dark gray, changing files, boom - start Revit. That doesn't even have to reside in the GUI, it can be a utility run outside of the application. The only component missing is how you tell it when and what to change it to. In the code exists a piece that tells it here is what color to use for windows and borders and menu background ALREADY. The Revit framework has a color to begin with. And before going on a long explanation of why programming is not easy - I will explain why it IS easy. ![]() I also can't understand why such an easy programmable change is not available. I'm guessing you guys see barely half of all actual enhancement requests. If I have to sign up on a website just to view a price of a pair of shoes or something - guess what - aint buying shoes from you pal. I hear nothing less from Revit users I support at work. Perhaps the only place Autodesk looks or input is their own community pools like AUGI or the O-forums? How bout a user enhancement request tool that is generated directly from the application without having to go through channels so you get a raw look at what people are really barking about. And since the annual release cycle post Autocad R14, the changes to the plot utility were on everyones hit list for years but nothing was ever tweaked. ![]() Express tools commonly added to installs as an option should have been an integral never left out component expressed by every user of AutoCAD I've ever met. The block browser so long ago added to it was begged for by enormous amounts of users to be added to the full version, but never added into it. If you need to change hundreds or thousands then there are faster ways - this app has no scriptability or services associated with it.To say that community support is all it takes to get an Autodesk feature or enhancement is laughable. If you need to change the color of icons with very few clicks, at ninety-nine cents this app is worth it. Some icons are small, it would be nice if there was a slider along the side or at the top that would increase or decrease the size of the displayed icons.īy the way, this app is working fine on High Sierra. I think there should be Preference menu option to choose a light or dark theme that is consistent across the UI with the exception of the drop-zone canvas. I have a preference for Dark Themes as I have three monitors and Dark Themes are just a lot easier on my eyes. The top of the UI is brilliant white and bottom black. There should be a Preferences option to change this “drop=-zone canvas” to user selected color. It is unfortunate that you can’t change the color of this background, light colors just don’t contrast well with it and grays are of course invisible to nearly invisible. You drag the icon(s) to the grey portion of the UI and it will change their color. A Preferences menu with the ability to select how to represent the color would be nice. Hex is obviously good for people doing web design but isn’t all that useful for many other things. Your only choice for color display is Hex, and you can’t change it to CMYK, RGB, or HSB, etc. This works fine, it just took a little clicking to figure it out. You can save favorite colors, first you select the color you want by clicking the colorwell at the top of the UI, which opens Apple’s Color Picker, then click the plus sing in the bottom right of the UI and it adds a new colorwell at the bottom. It is good the app is simple because like so many apps on the app store, there is no help file. App is simple and does one thing (changes the color of icons) and seems to do it just fine. So here is some feedback as well as my thoughts on the app. The developer says to give him feedback but it is unclear how to do that as there is no mechanism in the app to do it and I already mentioned the website without any English option. It is probably an abandoned app like so many here on the app store. ![]() The link to support is the developer’s blog? I had no idea, of course, that “Scooby-Doo” would be anywhere near as successful and long-lasting as it was. RC: I was actually working on animating “The Yellow Submarine,” at the time, and at night I was working on “George of the Jungle,” and some days through the week, I would go over to Hannah-Barbera, helping storyboarding and developing for the season of “Scooby-Doo.” It’s just part of what I did in my life. Later on I did much the same thing with Disney studios, doing “Tailspin,” “Winnie The Pooh,” “Darkwing Duck,” storyboarding a lot.ĭT: What was it like to be involved with the original development team for “Scooby-Doo?” My studio was across the road from Hanna-Barbera, Bill Hanna used to cross the road with stuff for my studio. After I left for my own studio, Bill would subcontract to my studio for films when they were overloaded with work and needed extra help. I needed to work for the first year for legal reasons, getting my green card, and I worked for Bill Hanna for the first year. RC: That was when I first came to America. Consequently, fans of “The Yellow Submarine” and all the people who watched the Beatles TV cartoon show that I directed as a young man, people who remember that television show with a lot of pleasure pass that pleasure on to their children.ĭT: How did you begin working with Hanna-Barbera? I meet children who are like two years old, five years old, ten years old, twenty years old, all fans of the Beatles. Parents who love the Beatles somehow have a habit of passing their enthusiasm on to their children. I meet Beatles fans of all ages, and I really mean all ages. RC: It’s amazing how many young people still listen to the Beatles. I was the first generation able to earn a living in Australia doing animation, which was fortunate for me, and enabled me to get into animation at all.ĭT: How do you feel about your work on “The Yellow Submarine” and the Beatles cartoon being enjoyed by such a broad audience? Just as I came out of art school in Australia, television came and for the first time there was a demand for television commercials and animation. “You mean I can do drawings that can come alive?” I carried that with me in a way through my student-age years into art school. It really struck me as a remarkable thing. Ron Campbell: I got started when I learnt, as a six year old, that “Tom and Jerry” cartoons I’d watch on a Saturday afternoon were actually drawings. 23-25 in Austin, where he will be demonstrating his skills and selling his work to benefit charity.ĭaily Texan: What inspired you to become an animator? By April of 2018, there will be no more Origin, Superstition or Prophecy bottlings from Jura. Now other changes, perhaps more fundamental in nature, are afoot. Since 1985 the distillery has changed hands several times, having been part of Whyte & Mackay, which was purchased by United Spirits, which was then sold to Emperador in 2014. At that time, it was rebuilt and reborn as a modern distillery designed by the famed designer William Delme-Evans, who had also built Tullibardine and Glenallachie distilleries. The original distillery was founded in 1810, but their real story begins in the 1960s. The Jura distillery has had quite the up and down history. The fact that it has a larger population of deer than people might speak to the open, quiet spaces that attracted the writer when he needed solitude. Like that island known for its peaty whisky, Jura is home to its own whisky distillery, and some might know it as the island where George Orwell wrote the novel, 1984. Swallowing yields an unusual, split-second reset, in which an earthy vanilla flavor gives way to a rush of mild peat smoke, followed by a firm but not overwhelming burst of spice that flares up for next few seconds while leaving the tongue with that mellow, earthy vanilla coating. The island of Jura sits next-door to a much more famous member of the Hebrides, Islay. Meanwhile the mouth starts to tingle lightly with the flavors of spices like cloves and nutmeg. The sip gets earthier from there as it gradually builds up while the few drops sit on the tongue, but never growing beyond a mild hint of peat smoke, sweet sherry, and coffee. A sip envelopes the tongue with a rich and mellow vanilla, slightly smoky like crème brûlée crust, but balanced by a subtly sweet flavor of golden raisins. Palate: The palate picks up unusually close to how the nose left off in this case, but amplified. That gradually moves in a heavier, richer direction as the fruit gives way to a sweet, earthy vanilla and the oak takes on a peat smoke quality with touches of baking spices. ![]() Nose: Wafts into the nasal passages with a delicate, fruity aroma, characterized by orange, sweet apple and oak with faint touches of ginger, sea salt and light smoke.
